What does diversity mean to our employees?

In this film, our employees share in their own words what diversity at Schüco means to them — authentic voices, real perspectives, true diversity.

Our Mission Statement

We create a work environment where everyone feels respected and valued. We do not tolerate any form of discrimination. By continuously reviewing our measures for equal opportunities, we ensure that everyone has the same opportunities for development. We see diversity as a strength that makes us, as One Schüco, more successful and future-proof.

Diversity Dimensions at Schüco

Schüco has signed the Charta der Vielfalt, making a clear commitment to a respectful and appreciative working environment. As a first step, we have defined three dimensions of diversity that we want to focus on: generations, gender, and people with disabilities. These areas highlight where the greatest need for action exists today to ensure Schüco remains sustainable and future-ready. Based on these dimensions, we develop targeted initiatives, remove barriers, and create an environment where everyone can contribute their strengths and realize their potential. By signing the charter, we are sending a strong message: diversity makes Schüco more innovative, open, and ready for the future.

About the Charta

Generation

Strengthening age diversity: At Schüco, this means including people at all stages of life and valuing their perspectives, skills, and needs equally. That’s why, for example, we place a special emphasis on supporting our students and apprentices.

Inclusion

Inclusion creates diversity: The Representative Body for Severely Disabled Employees at Schüco breaks down barriers and supports colleagues with disabilities through advice and practical measures. As part of our diversity strategy, it promotes equal opportunities and participation, helping to create an inclusive work environment where everyone can contribute their strengths.

FAQ on Diversity at Schüco

How do we ensure a fair and inclusive application process?
Our inclusive application process is designed to give you the best possible start – no matter what your background is. We value transparency, well-trained interview partners, and respectful, open communication. If you need support – whether it’s accessible facilities, flexible scheduling, or technical assistance – we’re here for you.
How are we committed to diversity and inclusion – beyond the workplace?

Our commitment goes beyond the office desk or the logistics hall. We support initiatives that actively promote and strengthen diversity, equality, and inclusion – from participating in national diversity action days and running awareness programs and focus weeks to signing the Charter of Diversity. In doing so, we contribute to a more inclusive working environment.

How do we promote female leadership?
Targeted programs for developing leadership skills: Since 2013, Schüco has partnered with the non-profit organization ANNA+CIE. The goal is to offer women personal and professional support on their way to leadership roles. Participants enhance their leadership abilities and receive structured feedback from external mentors. Schüco also helps everyone on the team successfully balance work demands and personal life under the guiding principle of “life phase flexibility.” The company provides parent-child offices, flexible options for remote work, and emergency childcare at the Bielefeld location. For this family-friendly approach to HR, Schüco received the “Outstanding Family Friendliness” seal for the second time in 2024, awarded by the City of Bielefeld and the “Local Alliance for Families.”
How do international teams enrich our everyday work?
Colleagues in more than 80 countries bring vibrant diversity to our professional world. Our rich cultural variety opens up a wealth of perspectives and approaches that we use to make Schüco successful together. We work closely across borders, following the principle of think global, act local: we are globally connected with a shared understanding while remaining mindful of local differences, markets, and cultures. We value our differences, seeing them as an opportunity for continuous growth. At the same time, we all share the responsibility to create a fair, respectful, and inclusive workplace where exclusion or discrimination have no place.
How do we support mental health?
You have access to low-threshold initial psychological counseling for mental health concerns, provided by qualified professionals. This service offers guidance, helps you assess your situation, and highlights possible support options. Leaders can also take advantage of this offering if they notice changes in team members’ behavior. In the future, more Mental Health First Aid responders will be trained. These trained contacts are available for conversations and offer support during challenging times—without providing diagnoses or therapy.
How do we raise awareness for diversity in the company?

Schüco raises awareness of diversity among employees through a structured training program that includes intercultural training during the "Onboarding Days", supporting e-learnings, and "Unconscious Bias" training designed to make employees more aware of unconscious biases in their daily work. As part of European Diversity Month, company-wide awareness initiatives such as themed weeks, management statements, and international video contributions are also offered. These measures aim to strengthen psychological safety, promote discrimination-free behavior, and sustainably improve collaboration within diverse teams.
